The People’s Republic of China has proclaimed its preparedness for any type of war with the United States.
The Chinese Embassy in the U.S. made the declaration Tuesday night following the Trump administration’s announcement of new trade tariffs.
“If war is what the U.S. wants, be it a tariff war, a trade war or any other type of war, we’re ready to fight till the end,” the mission posted to X.
The Embassy commented on a statement by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs which condemned the use of the fentanyl issue as “a flimsy excuse to raise U.S. tariffs on Chinese imports”.
The Ministry said China’s counter-measures to defend its rights and interests are fully legitimate and necessary, adding “The U.S., not anyone else, is responsible” for the Fentanyl crisis.
In a post on X, China said instead of recognizing its efforts, the U.S. has sought to smear and shift blame to China, and is seeking to pressure and blackmail the nation with tariff hikes.
“They’ve been pushing us for helping them,” the statement said. “This is not going to solve the U.S.’s problem and will undermine our counternarcotics dialogue and cooperation.”
China further asserts that intimidation or bullying “does not work on us,” and warned the American government to stop “pressuring, coercion or threats”.
The government said anyone using maximum pressure on China is miscalculating and advised the U.S. to “consult with China by treating each other as equals” on the fentanyl issue.
