The baby boy is believed to be the first to have the doughnut chain listed as his “place of birth” on his birth certificate.

For one woman, motherhood is off to a particularly sweet start!

A woman gave birth to a baby boy in a Krispy Kreme parking lot in Alabama on Wednesday, Jan. 22. The bakery chain, known for its doughnuts, is now pledging to do something special for the child’s birthday every year.

The baby’s father was driving the woman — who was in active labor — to the hospital when they were stopped by the “once-in-a-century” winter storm that swept across the southeastern United States, according to a Krispy Kreme spokesperson. The baby boy, named Dallas, was born healthy, and he and his mother and father are “all doing great,” the spokesperson said.

The manager of the Alabama bakery location originally suggested that Krispy Kreme treat the family to free doughnuts for a year, as well as host Dallas’ first birthday party.

“However, Krispy Kreme is sweetening the family’s a-glaze-ing celebration by throwing Dallas a birthday party every year until he’s all grown up! ” the spokesperson said in a statement.

Additionally, Dallas’ birth certificate will — to the best of the bakery chain’s knowledge — be the first to name Krispy Kreme as “place of birth.”

Krispy Kreme is known for its fun and festive special events — like when it dyed the classic glazed donuts green and offered a free-dozen promotion in honor of The Grinch ahead of Christmas, or when it handed out free doughnuts and “I Voted” stickers on Election Day.
