Family portraits snapped in Washington, D.C.’s natural landscape revealed quite the surprise when reviewing the captured images. In the background of photos of two young children, the photographer caught former President Barack Obama candidly taking a stroll. The photos were shared across social media by the kids’ mother and the photographer responsible for the once-in-a-lifetime shots.
“It was perfect,” elaborated Portia Moore to NBC 4 Washington of the experience. “Of course, I’m paying attention to my son, making sure he doesn’t run into the water. He’s 20 months old.” Moore confirmed the viral photoshoot will be used on the family’s 2025 Christmas cards.
She continued to describe, “My husband’s like, ‘That’s Obama!’ I didn’t know what he was saying. I was like, ‘Yeah, whatever. I’m looking at Preston right now,’” adding, “I was like, ‘Well, did we get a picture?!’ We went to the photographer, and she scrolled back and we’re like, ‘We got it!’
In Moore’s comment section, the 44th POTUS himself responded to the welcomed photobomb writing, “Preston and Belle, I hope you enjoyed peak bloom! My bad for stepping into the shot.”
The photographer Briana Inell also spoke to the news outlet and explained, “Usually, I’m editing all of the tourists out of the backgrounds for all my clients anyways, but this is the one photo that I won’t be editing out this person.
As she shared the photo on Instagram, she exclaimed to her followers, “This is why you get to the tidal basin at sunrise on a weekday! You never know who you’re going to see,” adding “I wasn’t paying attention since we all know how heard it is to photograph little ones sometimes!”
